Stoneware Black Vacuumed Clay - Ebony 10 Kg - (Chamotte 25% 0-1Mm) (R21853)

Black stonware mud suitable for turning and modelling.
Recommended operating temperature is 1050°C - 1140°C.
If it is desired to be cooked above 1050°C, the temperature rise should be slowed down after 1050°C.
The color, which is dark brown at 1050°C, will turn black as it rises to 1120°C.

Note that for manganese oxide (MnO) used for coloring, deoxidation occurs around 1080°C.
It occurs around 1100°C for iron oxide (Fe2O3).
From 1050°C, the temperature should be increased slowly so that oxygen can pass through the porous surface.
If the temperature rises too quickly, deformations, bubbles and even bursts or cracks occur.
This mud is also available in a non-fired version.
